Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy refers to the process of an individual working in a one-on-one relationship with their therapist. While there are numerous forms of therapy available to you, many people choose this format as it allows for devoted attention to the issues at hand and the ability to work on your own timeline.

Sam is trained in numerous methodologies regarding individual therapy but some of the modalities you can expect her to use include:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – A therapeutic approach that focuses on the alleviation of trauma or toxic stress symptoms through bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or buzzing).
  • The Grief Recovery Method – An evidence based, structured program for navigating grief with a focus on completing our unresolved emotions and communications.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – An evidence-based modality which heavily focuses on skill building across four domains: mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Attachment Therapy – A modality that is based on theory stating that our primary relationships become models for how we learn to interact with and respond to others.
  • Existential Therapy – A modality based on philosophy in which conversations emphasize themes of choice, responsibility, and meaning.
